Laurent became a member of the Brussels Bar in 1994. He is recognised as a tax specialist and is a partner at van Cutsem, Wittamer Marnef and Partners, where he created the Tax department upon joining the firm in January 2008.
His practice covers all aspects of tax law. His specialised expertise is primarily focused on indirect taxation.
His clientele consists of Belgian and foreign companies, not-for-profit associations, individuals and public authorities. Attentive to his clients’ concerns, his goal will always be to identify their interests in order to implement effective methods and strategies to achieve the best results.
In this way, Laurent has assisted his clients for many years (advice, audit, negotiation of individual decisions with the central administration, etc.) on a daily basis. He supports them in their development (implementation of structures, tax optimisation, strategic advice, etc.). He also represents them in administrative litigation (defence in connection with inspections, with a focus on negotiating agreements with the tax authorities) and, if necessary, defending them in court proceedings.
Laurent has also developed expertise in the negotiation of individual and sectoral agreements. He is also regularly consulted by various public authorities (on VAT and local tax matters, etc.)
Laurent Tainmont holds a number of academic posts. He is also the author of various books and many articles on taxation, and he is regularly invited to speak at seminars and conferences.
